Nothing to do with remote control but this is a really good page of pictures and videos of aviation accidents. Everything from Cessners to F-16's ending up in unfortunate circumstances! Some hours worth of entertainment: www.micom.net/oops
In this video, a strong wind passes over a ridge line. On the downwind side of the ridge line, there is a zone of nearly horizontal air flow just above a nearly static zone of air. By flying a glider in a circular path that crosses between these zones, air speed is increased by the difference in wind speed. In spite of losses from pulling a high g circle, high speeds are possible as long as the model can handle the strain. Thanks, FrUitCaKeU. - (This video is no longer available from its original source, anybody got a new link?).
Taken from an email from Daniel Murphy our membership secretary:
"Thought you all might be interested to know that a new dynamic soaring speed record was set this week in the US by Kyle Paulson flying a 100" DS Extreme (whatever that is) and the speed was.... 301mph! Yes that's right 301mph is not a typo!" (Again the original link is broken. but this seams to be the place for dynamic soaring records etc: www.rcspeeds.com)
